Hi everyone, I'm ShireRider and i just discovered this forum a month or so ago. It's so good to have a specific forum for us model tack makers! I'm just a kid from New Zealand (No, NOT Australia!) and I have been making basic (I mean basic basic) tack for a few years. I am hopefully starting to progress forward into using actual leather (Not EcoShop old handbags!) , I just sent in a Rio Rondo order yesterday, super excited about the hardware, as mine has been homemade up till now. I have been riding real horses for 4 years now and absolutely loving it. I have a CLAN of Schleichs, and am working on growing my collection of Breyer Classics. I have made one proper western saddle from a Rio Rondo kit, and am working toward a full herd sized set of realistic halters for my Schleichs. Thanks so much for setting up this forum!

Thanks for joining and great news about your Rio Rondo order I still hand make a lot of my own hardware from hand so being able to make things yourself is a really useful skill!

Heya! Im a Novice tack maker from South England and I make English tack for mostly traditional sized models, however I'm hoping to try making some western tack however I have quite a difficulty with getting materials! I ride horses in real life and have been for 4 years. I look forward to learning lots of great advice for everyone!
Hi! My name is Sharon and I'm from Wisconsin, USA. I've been collecting since I received my first model horse for my 5th Birthday. I still have her too! She is a Hartland Arabian Filly in flaxen chestnut. The collection has grown considerably over the years and last count was over 2000 models. Mostly plastic OF although I have a few old customs, china and resin as well. Pretty much whatever I like best at the time. I started photo showing in the early 80's and my first live show was Marney's Show (Model Horse Congress) in 1987. I've been live showing ever since. My live show string are all OF plastics. I have done tack making in the past, but haven't done anything recently. Hoping to get back to doing some.. at least as much as my hands will let me. Mainly did Western but also did a few English for my own use. Want to try my hand at Heavy Harness if I can find the time.
Hello! I'm Kari, from the US. I started collecting Breyers in 1989. I stopped in 2006 or 2007, and just startedc again this year. I made myself an Arabian costume for a Breyer (Marguerite Henry's Sham on the Huckleberry Bey mold) in 2006. This has been a terrible year for my mental health (COVID, the presidential election, etc.), and I decided to take a shot at making a Western tack set for a Stingray model I picked up. The set is done, and I thoroughly enjoyed the process of making all of it. I just found out about this board from the Model Horse Tack Space FB page.
My name is Kristen and I have been collecting breyers since I was a young child. I’ve recently started looking into tack making and am really interested in all tack, and would eventually love to create a harness set for my othello conga. I’m not sure where to really begin with this as I cannot find any patterns and such for that yet. I’m going to try a few halters and saddle kits before I get too involved. I might one day try a photo show, however my models tend to be shelf quality or I don’t know how to judge which ones are appropriate.

Hiya folks, I’m Em from New Zealand, I mainly collect CollectA, Schleich and stablemates. I’ve dabbled in a bit of everything as hobbiests are few and far between down here so you pretty much have to make anything you want to have. Tack making is my favourite though. I’d love to get to a live show someday but for now I am giving photo showing a try.
I my name is Susan. I’m just getting back into model horses after almost 20 years of being out. I’m realizing a lot has changed. I’ve been collecting Breyer horses since the mid 1970’s. Hope to learn a lot. Thank you in advance of all your knowledge and support.
