Hello all! Just found the forums and I can't wait to begin reading!!
I'm in the south west deserts of Arizona, USA. Been working leather for about 25 years and making model horse tack for about the same amount of time. I ran a Tandy Leather shop here in AZ for about 5 years. I live show my work here locally but have never photo showed. I collect Breyer models, mostly traditional vintage these days.
My avatar is a pic of a 100 year old horse collar someone brought to be at a farmers market that they needed re strapped and new buckles put on. While I do both scales, the original title for the pic was "I think the scale is alittle off on this one".
I'm trying to figure out how to use the forums, so hopefully the pics will upload! One's a classic gaming saddle that NAN qualifed, one's a driving harness that took grand and a first, and one's just a cool full colour and tooled saddle.

Yay glad to see you guys here ! sorry for it being a bit quiet here recently as my new job is eating all my time but hopefully I will be able to get some new content up for you all to read soon!
Hi I'm Davina from Somerset in England. Returning to the hobby after a long absence of 20+ years but still keeping an eye on the model horse world when I could! I have mainly Breyers and am hoping to purchase a Copperfox soon on their tour this year. I am desperate to get hold of tack and riders. If anyone can help with contacts that would be brilliant. No good at making myself. There are some pretty amazing talented collectors out there producing stunning customs to models and fabulous detailed tack. Don't have any pics yet that's another area I need to work on!

Welcome to the forum!Sorry if it seems a bit quiet I admit I haven't been on much with my new job but hopefully I will be on more as fighting to get some more hobby time is my new years resolution!
It's always a good idea to check the "Model Horse Tack Space" group on facebook if you use it as the group now has lots of active members selling tack
There are also a few lovely western sets up on MH$P at the moment
Hi there, I'm from Scotland in the UK.....I used to have a few breyer models as a kid but never tried showing etc. I make the full sized versions for a living being a saddler and harness maker, I've owned and shown horses and ponies so if you have any questions feel free to ask ~ I had a quiet moment and decided to play around and try making a mini 12th scale version which was a lot of fun and it happened by luck to fit my very battered classic scale comet model (you'll be happy to hear the nearside fore has now been reattached lol). Lots to improve on but happy for a first time effort it wasn't designed to be for a polo pony ~ being a vsd (very slightly dressage saddle) more for showing and general use etc.
My passion is harness and I would love to make a harness set but still experimenting on making accurate 12th scale box loops! but also would love to try making a marathon cart as well some traditional carriages.
I'm so impressed with the work shown here by everyone, its very inspiring!
p.s. hope this post works....I tend to repel technology lol

Hello I am Laine from Alberta, I run my own tack studio called Yellow Bird Acres Tack, my facebook page is www.facebook.com/YBAtack
I specialize in english tack but also do western, I am constantly trying to challenge myself in tackmaking so I will try just about anything. I collect mostly Breyers and I do a bit of customizing as well (painting and re-positioning/sculpting)

Hello fellow tack makers! Welcome! I am looking into getting this forum back up and running in a slightly more streamlined form with a little help from some friends so make sure to keep an eye out ^.^
Hello! I'm Coreada from the midwestern US. I've been out of the hobby for years, but recently started leaning toward getting back into it. I had just started tackmaking when I dropped out, so I've produced a few pieces, but I have a LOT of room for improvement. I also customized models, but was in the same situation there-- I havne't done enough to be consistently good, though I did create a few decent models. I want to take up both aspects of the hobby again, as well as prop making. I don't ever intend to sell my customs, but if I get good enough at tack and props, I might offer those for sale from time to time.
I collect Breyers, but haven't kept up with new releases, sadly. I also have a couple of CollectAs and Marx (Johnny West) horses. I think it'd be a lot of fun to make some "giant" scale tack for the latter, even though the horses aren't show quality! (I used to show a little, but I'm not sure that will be my focus anymore).
Here are some photos of a couple of customs and tack I've done:
Thanks for letting me share. I look forward to participating here!

Hi Coreada! Welcome to the forum Your customs look really sweet and your tack looks stunning <3 I am always so envious of western tack and braided goods as those skills still elude me! Thankyou for sharing and feel free to post away

Thank you! I appreciate the compliments. I LOVE braided tack, but I'm still pretty clumsy with it. I'm experimenting with "fake" knots while I work on developing my skills doing the real thing. I really, really like doing it, though, and I'm eager to get back to it! And thank you for the compliments on my customs, too. My ambitions way outstrip my skills, but I think my CMs have still turned out to look like they have personalities, and I enjoy that.
Thank you for the welcome. I look forward to participating here (and getting more tack done)!
Hi! I’m Alanna and I live in Florida. As a young girl I played with my breyers and other model horses growing up. I recently discovered model horse collecting and showing is something quite a bit of people do! I am most interested in performance classes (one day lol) and showing in general. I have a horse I lease in real life and I do not have a lot of opportunity to show him (but I really want to) so I thought maybe I can model horse show instead!
I’m going to be attending Ocean Side Live in April, in hopes to meet some new people and maybe learn some more about collecting and showing. I joined this forum because I would really like to learn how to make show clothes for my dolls and english tack sets in particular. One day I hope to have a model & doll that look like me and my horse!
All of my collection is pretty old and worn down at this point, they’re only body or shelf quality. Hopefully I can refurbish some of them one day or get them refurbished. I think I might have to sell some of them to start my new collection, which is a little hard for me because I am REALLY attached to them (I have maybe 100 give or take).
I am really excited to get involved in the community and participate in a passion i’ve had for a long time!

Hi Alanna ! It's great to see you here it's been super quiet here for quite some time but we look forward to bringing things back to life soon make sure to also check out the very active facebook groups as well for some instant gratification. Whilst I don't have any real horses myself I can say model horse showing can be a heap of fun so I hope you really enjoy getting back into the hobby
