Hi everyone, I'm brand new to the forum so here is my introduction post.
My name is Janna Shepherd and I live in Little Rock, Arkansas USA. My primary interests in the hobby are collecting and performance showing. I collect a little bit of just about everything in all scales, including Breyers, Stones, CollectAs, Artist Resins, and some Chinas.
I'm currently not that artistic when it comes to the hobby. I have made a few small tack items here and there in the past, and customized a handful of horses. I have started trying to make as many of my own props (and dioramas) as possible though, but I wouldn't quite call myself a prop maker officially. I would really like to try my hand at making my own tack, as well as try painting and customizing horses again. It's a goal of mine one day to have Performance entries that I created every aspect of - the horse, tack, and props. That's probably a long off goal though for now.
I'm pretty active in the live showing aspect of the hobby. While there is only one live show a year in my state, I often travel anywhere from 5-8 hours (each way) to shows in surrounding states. My main interest is Performance showing, both in the OF and CM/AR divisions. I also will show minis in Performance sometimes too, especially if there's a separate division for them. I've only started dabbling in photo showing, but it's also something I'd like to get more involved with in the future.
Outside of the model horse hobby, my life pretty much revolves around animals and animal rescue. I have eight rescued dogs (one is technically supposed to be a foster dog.. but he's been with us nearly a year now), one rescued cat, and one horse who is a semi-retired pleasure mount/pasture pet. I'm also the caretaker of over 100 reptiles at a rescue/sanctuary that I founded and run. I'm pretty recently married, and my husband is my best friend and biggest supporter in all of the things I love.
I look forward to participating here and hopefully getting more motivation and education to start making tack for myself.
My name is Jade. I live on the Mid North Coast of NSW, Australia. I collect models with my wonderful Mother, Jo-Anne. We started collecting Breyer's about 4years ago, then to Stone and now Resin's with a few CM's in the mix. We are 'performance junkies!!' We are not artists by any means but do love to make our props, from circus backdrops to outback fences.
I work as a Vet Nurse in a small animal practice 3 days a week and for my parents 3 days a week, at their produce and saddlery (which sells Breyer). We own horses, sheep, cattle, dogs, cats, birds and a rabbit (who we hand raised from birth). I also love to do photography. I used to compete at horse shows most weekends but don't have them time like I used too.
Hi Janna, great story! Wow, you really have a lot of animals =o And a brand new husband, congrats! Sounds like you have a great life
Hi Jade! So cool to hear that your mother is interested in the hobby as well, that's really fun. I wish my mom had some more interest, but I guess I should already be happy that she accepts three model horses in the living area of the house...
I'm looking forward to seeing the props you all make (Janna, Jade and mom), sounds very interesting!
Welcome both

Hello my name is Christina and I'm from Austria in Europe. I collect modle horses since 2011. My collection is mostly Schleich horses (scale 1:22) but i have a few Breyers as well I love to make tack and customize horses but my tack is mostly for 1:22 scale and I'm not so good at customizing that I would use a Breyer horse for that. I collect modle horses since 2011. My collection is mostly Schleich horses (scale 1:22) but i have a few Breyers as well I started with tack making in 2011 as well, I had a bit of a break since 2013 but I really want to start doing more tack again. Here is something I made 2 years ago
I've never been to a live show bc there aren't many here and most of them are to far away. And thats basically it.
My names Jess ^^ I've been collecting model horses, mainly Breyer since I was 9 years old. (Currently 25)
I've always loved my Breyers so much especially due to the fact i've never had a horse in real life although I hope one day that dream might come true.
Even though I've been collecting for a long time, I never really thought to customize them or even show them up until about 2 years ago. I've always been an artist growing up so when I realized I could pain my own models I got really really excited! I hope one day to be really really good at customizing I've only been doing it for about a year now and I still have a long way to go!
Some examples of how far I've come so far
Custom Susecion to Buckskin!
My Peter Stone Arabian Custom
My California Chrome custom! <3 My baby <3
I was finally able to get my hands on an airbrush for Christmas, however I have no idea how it works xD I also think that I'm missing some pieces for it. So for right now, all my customs are done in pastel and acrylic paint
As for my actual Breyer collection, I have vids of my collection tours up on my youtube page, although I seriously need to do an updated one since I finally have a job and can start getting models again xD I mainly collect Breyer, I have a few Schleich and I think 2 Peter Stones. I REALLY want to get a bigger collection of Stones and Resins since I would honestly die to be able to show live. Sadly I live in a small town in Connecticut (U.S) and I don't have friends that share the same hobby :/ so I can't really share my fun with this kinda stuff with anyone. So if you are CT and want a hobby buddy dear god message me xD
I am Dawn from holland, i am the one behind orange oak art. I mainly focus on rope halter related tack, butttt i also make everything else, its just not the highest quality (yet). I also love customizing and painting and well yeah everything basically, i collect mostly traditionald but also have some sms and classics,
Hey everybody! My name is Dora and I'm new here in the forum. I live in Austria, so unfortunately English is not my native language. I apologize in advance if I write now and then something incoherent. I am grateful if someone mends me if I express myself wrong. ;-) About me: I am 34 years old, working in a shelter and discovered the model horse hobby about 3 years ago. Since then I use every free minute. I make Props, Tack, do Custs and would like to take a closer look with the painting now. Most of all I like doing old-looking props and tack. I hope tips and suggestions can be found here and also glad to share my knowledge.
*Here's the let's pretend that this was Kristian's first post* Hi! I'm Kristian, or Kbev. I'm from PA and show in mostly region 9. I've been making tack since I was small, starting with modifying Breyer tack. I love to participate in all aspects of the hobby, but have mostly been making tack for a while (even though I do customize when I have time!) I also have a blog called Five Paws Studio- fivepawsstudio.blogspot.com and have an instagram and facebook of the same name.
