I'm so excited to see a forum dedicated to tack making. Many of you I recognize, but many I don't so hello! I'm looking forward to getting to know you all.
Anyway, I'm Nichelle, aka "Desktop Stables." I've been involved in the hobby for 10+ years and keep a blog rambling about my experiences here: desktopstables.wordpress.com
I'm in the USA, and am mostly focused on tack making, but I also have interests in prop and miniature making. I'd like to get into customizing someday but just don't have the space for it now. XD
I've made more Arabian tack than anything else, and have been doing a lot of sewing lately. Leatherwork usually hurts my hands (bad wrists, yayyy) so I haven't made too many saddles/strap goods, but I've enjoyed working on them anyway.
I mostly collect Traditional OF Breyers, but I've got a handful of Stones and one unpainted resin, along with some custom minis and a Copperfox model on the way.
I am kind of/sort of trying to start live showing, but it's a once or twice a year thing for me. My last show was up in Canada so I'm hoping to make it out to more Canadian shows sometime in the future.
Welcome, everyone! Sara, I am so jealous that your fiance is a hobbyist too! My boyfriend thinks the hobby is a little silly but he's a sweetheart so he let me rehome a fighting stallion to his windowsill
Never wanted to sell my TB, and luckily I dont think it will come to that, I looked at grazing last night after work and its better than nothing but its so dry here at the moment, had heaps of fires round the place. But Im glad to have found somewhere to put him even if it means pumping the feed into him to keep weight on when he goes there !!

Hi! I'm Lynda Gillette. I've been active in the hobby since 1982, I went to my first live show when I was 12 & was hooked. I love to live show & used to hold Empire State Live in Rochester NY. My husband & I recently moved to Florida & I hope to start holding shows here. I love artist resins & that is what I mostly collect. I also have a few Breyers & Stones. I also just created a website called the Model Horse Artisan Guide. Link to it & my studio in in my sig below.
I love to make Indian costumes & my studio name is Spirit Bear Creations. I love the Native American culture & the beauty of their art, especially their saddlery.

Hi I am Rachel from Blazin hot Arizona USA ! I am a tack maker, customizer, and occasional prop maker ( only when I cant con the hubs in to doing it for me )
I collect limited OF Breyer and Stones and have a larger collection of Ars and customs.
I am Dora, from Colorado in the US. I love making tack, the more difficult, detailed the better as I love coming up with new patterns etc, and get bored using the same patterns over and over. Example: this square skirt saddle, in 2000, long before RR published their new patterns.
I also created the below show saddle from scratch. I have a "real" job, so don't always get as much time to make tack as I would like to but after finishing grad school, I have gotten back into it some and hope to continue showing as it is so much fun to meet new people.
Someday I also desperately need to finish "Billy Bob", modeled after his namesake owned by Southside Longears in Idaho. I think he's super cool and really needs to grace the show ring with his presence. I like drastic customs and am never happier than when taking a heat gun or hack-saw to a model. Then all the study in anatomy and biomechanics I have done for school can come into play in a fun way. I'd like to learn to paint well enough to compete with the greats, but I guess we all have to draw a line somewhere!
I have always, and will always love Breyer OFs, but I stick to ones that jump out at me for some reason vs who is expensive or will show well. I've also started collecting the realistic resins I really like, but many many of them are sadly still Nekkid!!
