Things are going well, only the bridle and some loose parts left (still a lot of work but the end is near)!
The plastic between the horse and tack is to protect the horse from the tack while it's still slighlty wet with vernish. I put it on when it's still a bit wet so that it can really take on the form of the horse well.
Also I use the plastic to bind the tack in the right position on the horse (like the thin strap of plastic going from the ring on the breeching under the legs to the other side). When I let the tack to shape like this for a while (usually one of several days) it really takes on the shape very well without having to wet the tack and risking stretching the lace or damaging the horse by the tack bleeding on it.

I use Fiebings Tan Cote on the backside of the leather (the rough side) to make it strong and stiff, and I use Eco Flo Block Out Resist for the smooth side, to give it a nice matte finish.
The dye from Eco Flo might not be great, but that Block Out Resist works great!

Is the Block Out Resist similar to Fiebing's Acrylic Resolene? I have that, but I find it difficult to apply it thin enough. When it's too thick, it doesn't dry nicely and stays a bit sticky. I don't like that. By the way, your harness looks great!
That harness is incredible Char!!! Might need someone to make me one for my portrait model of my miniature mare, anyone up to do a portrait harness in close to classics scale? hahaha
I could do it but my waiting list is soooooo long... So if you want me to do it, you'll have to be patient, lol.
Kay looks so good in those clothes! I'm sorry to hear about her foot though, she must have been in a lot of pain.
Goldencreek, I can't say if it's the same as the Block Out Resist, but I don't think so since I don't have any trouble with applying a thin layer on my tack and it dries really quick.
I wanna finish my harness but I can only work on it tonight, raah!! My hands are itching to work on it, cause it's almost done!

Very nice, I like the colour! You might want to add an extra strap keeper right behind the buckle on each strap though, that's the way they usually do it with real bridles.
