Mine came in little zip-loc bags, and I left them in the bags, and store them in a plastic container from Ikea. If one would fall over, there still is the bag to protect it from making a mess. But the box is quite full, so there is no real danger for it.
Your studios are looking really good and clean. I'll make pics when I cleaned mine up a bit.
Okay, here we go! I've pretty much finished the harness (just need to add the traces when I get the measurements) so it was time to clean my desk again, for the next commission.
I'm not just gonna show you guys my desk, I'm gonna give you a guided tour. Cause there is a method to the madness!
To start: This is an overall view of my work space.
Now for the tour, we are gonna close in on each different area.
This is where I store my dye. You can probably see why I want a better method to store it, cause it is taking over my whole flipping desk! Can you imagine that I still don't have all the colours that I want?
This is where all the extra-tack-pieces go, which I can't use for the moment. There are many saddlepads there, a few rope halters, a ear bonnet and a dressage tack set.
This is one of the best things about my desk: my little closet!
Let's see what's in there... Drawer 1: hardware, sorted by discipline (portuguese, arabian, english, western and such)
Drawer 2: Other hardware, like trees and stirrups, and a few other items
Drawer 3: fabrics for portuguese saddle seats and left over pieces of lace
Drawer 4: tools to work with and things that don't fit in the other drawers (this drawer is a mess!!)
Drawer 5: lace, sorted by colour
Drawer 6: larger pieces of leather
Okay that's what's in the closet. Quite organised, eh? Well, that's true, but don't look on top of it! Oh okay, I now you want to. Here's a pic of the mess up there, it's full of "extra things" that don't fit in my drawers, or which I only need once is a while. There's halter ribbons there, Rio Rondo lace, embroidery thread, some tack stands, a stablemate etch cm in progress, an external hard disk, and some other items.
So all this is where I store my working items. Now for the real work! Here I put all the tools, lace and chocolate I need for the commission on which I'm working at the moment. The current commission is a brown bridle, hence all the brown lace.
And finally, this is where it all really happens. With my desk being so small it's about 3 quarters filled with items for storage, and only one quarter is available for me to really work on.
Thanks for reading the extended edition of my desk-tour, haha.

maybe I should organize mine and do one too if anyone would be interested? lol my desk seems so boring compared to yours char! I love that you also keep snacks at your desk like me! My current candy stash is a huge jar of candy corn and pumpkins from my model friend in America Melanie ^.^

Also char your closet is amazing where did you find it?! I love that all the little containers can be moved around and taken out to use the contents <3
Yes please give us a tour on your desk too! Always inspiring to see how other people handle their stuff.
My closet was found by my dad, it's really for storing nails and screws and stuff. In Dutch we would call it an "gereedschapskast", maybe in English something like "tool drawer" or anything like it?

My work space today as you can see I am not working on tack today just horses hopefully tack will resume by Wednesday But no more horses today I have a serious case of the clutzies .. I dumped my whole box of pastels ( like 8 sets ) all over the floor, next when I went to take this picture I dropped my camera , then it was the mouse and I almost just dumped my lap top... Yeah not touching any horses for a bit ... luckily all survived only a few broken pastels but I shave them to a dust anyhow
this is just one corner of a very large room that is my studio but since we just moved 2 months ago and haven't moved the shed out here yet it is currently half storage
Lol I do recognize that dropping-syndrome, I've got that when I've had a few beers. When I've had more than one glass, I'm not touching my models!! lol
I can see you are having the same problem as I have, spacewise. There probably cóuld be a laptop on the desk, but it would be burried under all kinds of stuff within hours! lol
Do you actually use your drawers?

I love all those little boxes! I am getting lots of tiny glass jars with corks to keep my assortment of tiny beads as I have trouble finding them in a draw full of plastic bags but I should make a little storage rack for them all

The desk drawers are a bit of a mess... ok a total disaster except 2 one has larger pieces of leather and one has more hardware . the other 2 are just a mess of papers and junk that I need to go through the dresser next to the desk is he same way eventually I plan to have both organized better and store some prop making supplies and fabric in them. I have a big dining room table that when I can get it over here and set up I will rearrange some things and have an L shaped work space but right now its half in the shed which needs to be moved over here from my dads place and the other half is in the horse trailer at my mother in laws were a bit of a scattered mess right now I must say I am loving this forum and hopefully will find more time to play here

Emily , The white toped boxes when I can find the are only 1.00 for 10 the others with latches are normally 1.00 each but I have found a few that were 3/1.00. shipping to AU would probably make them unaffordable unless we were already shipping something I haven't forgotten your reins I have just been super busy
