Stumbled across this: www.freckerssaddlery.com/making_saddle.php It shows the process of making a western/Wade type saddle. I don't know if anything could be applied to miniature, but it's always nice to see how the real thing is assembled.

That is so cool! I would love to use a number of these techniques in making real saddles ^.^ It's interesting how they shape , stretch and mould the leather I think that could be easily translated to model scale to produce a better saddle. It is also interesting that the tooling of the cantle is done on the saddle after it has been attached not before I have always wondering if i could do that with the shoulders on a model saddle as by the time i have shaped and stretched the leather over the shoulders i have lost all my tooling if i did it before this point and it is too curled up to do it after taking it off again. So many questions and possibilities >.<
